1st October 2006 – Great North Run
Peter Riley took a giant step towards recovering his confidence after a disappointing European Championships by leading home the home contingent in the Great North Run. Pete ran a strong race by finishing 9th in 64.09. He finished one place ahead of two-times Olympic marathon fourth-placer Jon Brown. The race was won by Hendrick Ramaala in 61.03.
Kevin Quinn, despite injury, completed the half-marathon race in 72.57. Not one of his fastest times, but an impressive performance that proves that running is so much more than being in a perfect physical condition. Well done!
