Training Sessions at Real Runners
Extra-Curricular Athletics Service
One to One Service | Corporate Running Workshop | Online Training Advice | Extra-Curricular Athletics Service
Our Extra-Curricular Athletics Service provides children with an hour of fun-filled, re-energising[ but also informative activity. This can take place during lunch time or immediately following the end of the school day - a time many of them would usually devote to slumping in front of a television or computer screen, snacking on unhealthy food.
The aim of this service is two-fold: to foster increased levels of concentration and motivation in children, providing them with an antidote to apathy and sluggishness in all areas of their life; and to provide them with a heightened physiological awareness within a relaxed and light-hearted environment in which team-work is always prized over premature competitiveness between individuals.
Broadly speaking, any given session would thus contain the following ingredients: warm-up Ethiopian-style (group-based dancing, jogging and loosening off); running, jumping, hopping, skipping; and games in which we pitch East African nations such as Kenya – the cradle of middle- and long-distance excellence – against other countries from the region (your child might for example find himself or herself in the "Tanzania" relay team, taking on the mighty "Eritreans"). All activities are conducted, in an informal and laid-back manner, with pointers on diet, hydration, stretching, and other key elements of athletics.
Less expensive and more beneficial than child-minding or other professionally run school clubs, the Real Runner’s Extra-Curricular Athletics Service costs from as little as £3/session, based on a minimum commitment of 5 weeks.
The philosophy behind this and all our services is, and will always remain, the clichéd but arguably irrefutable dictum: "Fit in Body is Fit in Mind".
